Our story
It started with a mower and a couple of neighbors
Mateo Landscaping and More LLC started in 2019 the way most honest trades businesses do: one truck, a mower, and a few Champaign neighbors who needed their yards taken care of and wanted someone who would actually show up.
Word travelled the way it does in a town like this. A customer we mowed for asked if we could put in a fence. Then somebody wanted a deck. Then a homeowner we'd worked for all summer asked whether we could patch the drywall in her back room — and we could. That is where the "and More" in our name came from. It wasn't a marketing decision; it was just us saying yes to our customers, one job at a time.
7 years on, we're still family-owned and still local. We're big enough to build your deck and take care of your lawn all season, and small enough that the person who gives you the estimate is the person you'll see on your property.
We work in English and Spanish — hablamos español — because plenty of our neighbors and our crew do, and nobody should have to guess at what's happening on their own property.

When you call Mateo Landscaping & More, you're not routed through a call center in another state. You get Maria Pablo Francisco, the owner, or someone who works alongside them every day and can answer for the work.
That's deliberate. When the person who quotes the job is the person who has to stand behind it, the number you get is realistic and the work matches what was promised. It's harder to run a business this way. It's also the only way we know how to keep neighbors as customers for 7 years.

Quality that outlasts the invoice
Anyone can make a yard look good on the day they leave. We build and plant so it still looks right in three years — the posts set deep, the beds edged properly, the boards fastened the way they should be.
Honesty, including when it costs us
If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, we'll say so, even though the replacement pays better. If a job isn't in our wheelhouse, we'll tell you that too and point you to someone good.
Showing up on time
We tell you when we'll be there, and then we're there. If something changes, you get a call — not silence. We know that's a low bar in this trade. We clear it anyway.
